The Sessions: Documenting Web3 Music Artist's Stories

A little over a week ago I was furiously slamming away on the keyboard cranking out my previous article “The Music NFT Metagame Emerges (For Artists).” Amid my flow state, I had the random idea to interview Web3 music artists and publish Mirror articles telling their stories.  This popped into my head as I was giving nods to various music artists in my writing and realized that I know next to nothing about their personal story into music or Web3.

While projects/platforms generally post a couple of Mirror or Medium articles leading up to launch this procedure doesn't really lend itself to independent Web3 music artists.  Written content is not everyone's bread and butter and it is incredibly uncomfortable to write about yourself– it is few and far between to find someone who likes writing a personal essay, myself included!  I’ve seen plenty of music artists write threads about themselves and attended Twitter Spaces celebrating artists' first NFT during which they speak on their journey… but this content doesn’t last long enough to have the proper reach or attention music artists deserve.  “Narrative” is such an important part of the Web3 space and after the positive response I got to my tweet about interviewing artists, I decided to take a stab at the idea and document these narratives in a less ephemeral medium.

I am calling this project “The Sessions.” Surfers have surf sessions, skiers have ski sessions, bakers have baking sessions, and music artists have studio sessions!  While I probably could have come up with something catchier, the definition of a session is “a period devoted to a particular activity.”  This project for me is about documenting the sessions of a music artist’s life.  My intention for this is to have it be an ongoing publishing project of interviews with music artists that documents their journey inside and outside of Web3.  Everyone in this space has a story to tell about themselves, their music, and their goals.  I am here to help tell it and have it last longer than the brief moment on a Twitter feed!

***This is for any music artist in Web3 whether you are new to the game or a seasoned veteran.
